Logic pro x disk too slow error free download.Avoid system overloads in Logic Pro
Iv never really taken much notice of my CPU usage Im guessing this is normal? Also any advise on harddrive setup I’ve done this for years btw. Yes, format your external drive with journaling off. The option IS available in disk utility all you have to do is hold down one of the modifier keys for it to appear in the menu.
I forget. I think it’s as much the operating system as much as anything else, did you notice the “Disk too Slow or Overload” message not too long after upgrading to I do realize the “disk too slow, overload” problem has been around, well It can mean so many things, It can be an overload of the internal bus system so that a tiny bit of data doesn’t make it where it’s supposed to on time. Often it’s plugins like Space Designer that tie up the bus, not only does it take a lot of cpu to do the convolution math it has to pass the data through as well.
Journaling only manages disk integrity with files under 20Mb, if something happens to the audio drive chances are journaling won’t be able to do much, if anything. Journaling is mainly used on servers where track of many small files some of them open needs the added integrity. I’ve never used journaling never seen any problems, the drives don’t work as hard.
Aug 14, AM. The internal drive is then backed up to the Time Machine drive I guess you can never have too much back up! Before I do that please confirm that, if I do that, then subsequently want to revert for some reason, I can by simply selecting Enable Journaling.
The other name for Journaling is Indexing. Slightly different because of the OS involved but same basic function. Aug 14, PM in response to dandotcraig In response to dandotcraig.

You should not be getting this message, even using internal drives for moderate projects. The MIDI capabilities alone are second to none in Logic and the ability to compose music in all styles makes it the best of the best.
Another huge plus is the constant and free updates Apple provides… updates that are really upgrades in the quality and number of plug-ins and soft instruments built into the program.
Composing music or just recording a band is easy with this software. Whether you are into acoustic, jazz, electronica or rock, this software package is the best there is and gets updated constantly by Apple. Apple takes this software very seriously and I commend them for their excellence. Version However, it does have on issue now with Flex Pitch and Flex Tim.
Total disaster when only trying to use Flex Pitch and not edit the time. When you turn off Flex and Follow, all of your time and pitch corrections disappear. I just want to use flex. Nothing can fix this. I have been looking in Apple Forums and trying to find a solution for about a week now. The artifacts that now happen when using flex are so bad the audio almost becomes unusable. Toggle navigation Pcmacstore. Features and Description.

Hello all, I can no longer record more than three tracks in logic without getting the error message “Disk is too slow (Record)()”. › system-overloads. This has been a problem with Logic for years but IME it’s usually related to slower speed hard drives or trying to record after the hard drive. It is most likely your buffer size or you may be using an unapproved hard drive. You should be using your main internal hard drive as a system drive with the OS.

I purchased my new interface a couple of weeks ago and downloaded and installed the most recent drivers for it. There was nothing about them specifically being compatible with But I’d assume a company like Focusrite wouldn’t have sketchy drivers affecting all mac users. I just downloaded Play v4. As for configuration, perhaps showing my naievity here but I had no idea it required any tweaking, assumed it should just automatically work as is.
So it’d have to be a no on configuring it if it requires special settings to run smoothly on Logic.
Even so, to fail with only one instrument loaded into it is embarrassingly poor. There were no plug-ins active and no busses running. Literally One track of Audio and A multi-output instance of play loaded with one instrument and 3 software instrument tracks attached. Attempting to record one midi line underneath the audio track and I get the error at random points throughout the process. Haven’t been able to get to the end of the track yet.
Thanks for the link, I had a read through but couldn’t see anything on there which was applicable to my working set-up.
It happens at a random point in the project rather than directly upon pressing play. I usually get a minute or two into the piece then it’ll do it.
I have read that Logic does this the first time a new instrument or region is introduced because it hasn’t had a chance to load it into the memory yet.
Every time I got an error I’d save, and relaunch, so perhaps this explains why I haven’t been able to move past it, because I haven’t really given Logic a chance to run through the piece more than once or twice, before closing it and starting over. Sep 3, AM in response to Pancenter. Hi Pancenter, I was under the impression that a larger buffer size increases performance but introduces latency. As I’m not experiencing any latency but am experiencing frequent errors I thought I’d put it up to to see if that changed anything, but it didn’t.
I was still getting the errors with a lower buffer size though. As I mentioned earlier I’m not using Space Designer or any other plug-ins. It’s quite bizarre. Going to have another bash today and see if it’s magically resolved itself over night. Sep 3, AM in response to DHousden.
You’re correct but it does depend on the drivers for the audio hardware, occasionally a smaller buffer is more efficient..
The Focusrite is plugged directly into a USB port correct, not a hub? What other active USB devices besides keyboard mouse do you have plugged in? Also what sample rate are you using? Yeah I can’t understand it. To be honest it could well be related to the inteface as I had no problems when I was using my MBox 2 with it. The only reason I changed was so I could get something more up to date which would work nicely with Logic! The interface is plugged directly into the mac pro.
I also have an iLok an iSight camera, my cinema display, a printer and the apple keyboard using the other ports and the session is 24Bit I was on a project deadline, and returned it and went back to my FW Duet ver 1 and everything worked in both Logic and Pro Tools. I really liked the interface and “check up” on driver development occationally.
They have since updated the drivers since I owned mine, so it’s too bad folks are still having issues. Not everyone is, and many have them are working just fine, but the guys at Guitar Center said a fair amount of them come back.
Sep 3, AM in response to grayter1. After doing a little research online it seems the Scarlett is one of those USB2 devices that has issues with how Apple changed their implementation of USB when they released Macs with USB3 interfaces and put this updated implementation into Lion and later Mountain Lion Oddly enough some Win 8 users are also reporting similar issues with the Scarlett for much the same reason.
The March Scarlett OS X drivers are intended to ‘alleviate’ this issue but Focusrite have stated it is only to ‘alleviate’ in some instances and not completely fix the problem for everyone who has it,. However, the good news is that Focusrite have released some beta drivers v1.
Note: These beta drivers again seem to only alleviate the issues for some people and not all but it has got to be worth giving them a try I would think Thanks for the update.

Posted on Dec 6, PM. Page content loaded. There’s a lot of background cr p going on in the newer operating systems, that could have an effect and the system as a whole as not as efficient as it used to be.
Do you have anything running in the background that could be interfering with system stability? Dec 6, PM. Not sure if any of these can cause conflicts but if they are running in the background especially compressed memory I can see how it might be a problem for the type of recording you’re doing.
I do location recording as well but still use an old Acer XP laptop, between tracks. Firewire connection. I’m not running anything in the background. Only Logic. It is equipped with USB 3.
Do you know how to tell if Compressed memory is on? Also, do you think it will make a difference to use firewire instead of USB? I have a to cable that I can use.
If you have a powered USB 2. Some USB 2. It worked fine for a year recording two shows every weekend with the longest set being an hour and a half. Then, suddenly, over the past few months it started getting this error message interrupting the recording 2 or 3 times a set. This is unusual because it is a overload message during recording of 16 raw audio tracks.
There are no effects of software instruments involved. This should not be a strain on either the system or the hard drive. I’ve done everything I can think of to troubleshoot. I tried all the Logic settings, I tried a different hard drive, I tried different cables and cleared 99 Gb of free memory on the system drive. I didn’t want to upgrade stuff because it was going so well up to that point but I eventually upgraded to El Capitan and the latest update of Logic as a final desperate attempt to solve the problem.
It didn’t. If anything El Capitan just gave me more headaches over other things on top of this headache with Logic. I’ve been through so much troubleshooting and that was the last thing I could think of. Since nothing on the computer appears to be doing anything. I am beginning to suspect a problem either with the mixer or with Logic’s handling of it. Jun 23, PM. Something had to change, a system doesn’t just stop working after a year unless there’s a hardware problem or software was upgraded.
